STEEL CONSTRUCTION FASTENERS

New Construction Products Regulation (CPR)
The implementation of standard EN 1993 (Eurocode 3) has brought significant changes to fasteners used in steel bolting
construction. The products used must meet the requirements of European quality standards. Fastener hot dip galvanising must
conform to EN 10684. In case of other fasteners, e.g. special fasteners, are used, the related technical features and any
required testing must be indicated in the specification of the construction project.
Standard fasteners used in steel construction are divided into two categories in sites planned according to EN 1993 and
implemented according to EN 1090-2:
• Preloaded friction joints are carried out with bolt assemblies according to EN 14399. These types of products
have been on the market for a few years now, and they are also included in Ferrometal’s delivery scope.
The products are commonly referred as HV sets.
• Bolting for non-preloaded joints are subject to the new standard EN 15048. The availability of these bolt
assemblies is currently limited. Ferrometal is the first fastener supplier in Finland to carry this extensive product
range in their stock.
